Hey fellow Snohioans. Welcome to the new face of Snohio.com. Years in the making (and seriously we've gone 7 years on the old site design.) We are using the CMS Application called Drupal. I've used this on a number of other sites and I am pretty familiar with the inter workings of it after 4 years or so.
We are starting out with some of the basics and then adding more as we go. Riders can modify their Profiles, an Events Calendar that still needs to be tuned and Forums. The latter has always been my biggest disappointment with Drupal, it's not that they've been behind what XMB was years ago, but it has always been missing key functionality that might finally be here. This is Drupal 6.6 and I've included the Advanced Forum module.
One bad thing about the site is that I have decided if we go forward with it, we will not be exporting anything from the old one. None of the forums, the homegrown riders, reports, etc. pages. We might look at incorporating them down the road but lets get this rolling before it gets too cold outside.
The main reason that has kept me from doing this years ago is that I put a LOT of time and effort into the code that is the existing site, quite a few people have in fact. It is really hard emotionally to let that go for me.
